A sleeker form of the style, called Streamline Moderne, appeared in the 1930s, featuring curving forms and smooth, polished surfaces. New materials arrived, including chrome plating, stainless steel and plastic. In the 1930s, during the Great Depression, Art Deco became more subdued. The Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, and other skyscrapers of New York City built during the 1920s and 1930s are monuments to the style. It featured rare and expensive materials, such as ebony and ivory, and exquisite craftsmanship. During its heyday, it represented luxury, glamour, exuberance, and faith in social and technological progress.įrom its outset, Art Deco was influenced by the bold geometric forms of Cubism and the Vienna Secession the bright colours of Fauvism and of the Ballets Russes the updated craftsmanship of the furniture of the eras of Louis Philippe I and Louis XVI and the exoticized styles of China, Japan, India, Persia, ancient Egypt and Maya art. Īrt Deco combined modern styles with fine craftsmanship and rich materials. These creatures cannot be killed and stay even after the flower is destroyed. Small, glowing insect-like creatures can be seen swarming around Spore Flowers. There are 736 Spore Flowers in the world. The Spore Flower is most often found around the various collectibles and exploration rewards that can be found around the map such as Somersloop, Mercer Spheres, Power Slugs, and Crash Sites. Any gas produced by the Spore Flower will be removed instantly the moment it is removed. Its hitbox is fairly loose, a Nobelisk exploded at some distance from it is still able to remove it. the Xeno-Zapper or Rebar Gun) nor the Chainsaw, but can be removed by detonating a Nobelisk within range. The Spore Flower does not take damage from conventional weaponry (i.e. Once a Spore Flower is blown up, it will never respawn. The Spore Flower reacts to other creatures in the same manner it does to the pioneer, however, no creatures besides the pioneer appear to be hurt by Poison Gas. Once the Spore Flower has begun to produce the poisonous gas, however, it will no longer respond to player presence, it will produce its gas for a few seconds and then go dormant again. This behavior can be halted by moving away from the plant, at which point it will perform the cycle in reverse, re-furling its stamen and lowering itself back onto the ground. When the stamen is completely unfurled, the plant will begin to shake the three fronds which it unfurled from its stamen, producing Poison Gas. The Spore Flower will remain "dormant" (in its normal appearance in the world as detailed above) until the pioneer approaches it, at which point it will jerkily raise itself on its legs/roots, when it is finished it will begin to unfurl its stamen.
